Zola Blood's debutsingle "Grace" from upcoming debut EP release (which doesn't have a set date yet), is a simple and refined track filled with electronica goodness.
The song, released on the rejuvenated label Pond Life Songs, has a measured elegance that is as delicate as it is pinching. The song has a certain pop sensibility and dynamic that is somewhere between James Blake and Sam Smith, with vocals that are as haunting as they are alluring. Zola Blood manages to create atmospherics that float on top of the reverberating drum tracks with a breezy ease.
If conundrum is the jet fuel of R&B, then Zola Blood certainly embraces that guise of uncertainty, and if "Grace" is any indicator of the outfit's forthcoming record, that should suit them quite well.
I'll be listening.
