Why do we like this?
This track is simple, perfectly timed, and heavenly to listen to for anyone with an ear for hip-hop. "Yo Yo" is a fine example of how to use R&B vocal samples without sounding cheesy. Lauryn Hill's "Doo-Wop" is not news to anyone, but Zikomo is able to pull off a fresh take on the 1998 classic.
It comes as no surprise that rising label Soulection is behind a release this good and this hip-hop. Zikomo is the fifth in the series of up-and-coming artists released on Soulection's White Lable Series. The series' releases are accompanied by a #WhiteLabelFriday hashtag because "there is nothing like ending your week with an amazing project/artist that you never heard of," and I couldn't agree more. So even though it's Monday, sit back and enjoy.
