Meet Yukon Blonde, a Canadian-based band revving up to take the indie folk world by storm. Their newest EP, Fire/Water, will be released on October 10, just in time for an extensive North American tour. If you're a weakling for hook-heavy indie folk singalong songs drenched in oohs & ahhs, then this band is ready to quench your thirst.
You've got the classic acoustic guitar, a softly wailing electric guitar, a sweetly slithering bass, and a steady upbeat drum -- all combined to encapsulate that all-American country folk that has stood the test of time for decades. Oh, and don't forget the bluesy harmonica solos! Those are the cherries on top.
Yukon Gold is well on its way to becoming a well-known staple within the indie folk world, opening for Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros and also making appearances at SXSW, CMJ, and Popkomm Festival. This EP (along with 11 other tracks) was written while touring on the road (and also off the road at a cottage in Canada). The leftover tracks will fill the slots for their sophomore LP, due out in early 2012.
Be sure to catch Yukon Blonde live at an intimate venue near you!
