Chad Valencia keeps cooking up some marvelous shit. That is actually literal. The producer is as passionate about beets as he is about beats (sorry, I had to).
Lasa is his culinary home, but when it comes to music, Yuk rolls with My Hollow Drum, a trippy L.A. crew that DJs and makes beats and other kinds of art. Yuk just released his sophomore album entitled Anak, or child in Tagalog, via Leaving Records.
There is an afternoon haze in Yuk's sound but there's also structure. "Home" has a driving loop and infectious percussive parts that you can dig your teeth into once you've been drawn in by the guitar and drone from the outset. Trippy mane!
