Sounds like:
SBTRKT,
Disclosure,
Kastle
Why do we like this?
Drew Marcogliese (one half of the San Francisco-based band Silver Hands) has a super sweet solo project, YR SKULL. I have been incessantly listening to his SoundCloud, and it's got me hooked.
A bit of dance, a bit of house, and a huge chunk of raw talent is all melted together to make YR SKULL's tunes. "MONOLUX" is one of my favorites, with its indecipherable, glitchy vocal samples and dense beat. It's the kind of song that makes you want to immediately find a dirty basement floor to occupy -- strangers only.
For more from this gem in the Bay, check out his other productions here, or head on down to Underground SF on February 8, 2013 (today!) for a live performance.
