Why do we like this?

Young The Giant have come a long way. I remember watching them play battle-of-the-bands shows in Irvine, California, way back in 2004 (under prior moniker The Jakes).

It took them a while to get to their debut album, released in May of 2011, but by then they had already gained a substantial following. And things just kept getting better (a performance at the MTV VMAs, gigs with Incubus and remixes by TDCC, Ra Ra Riot and Tokyo Police Club).

To date, their music hasn't been entirely my cup of tea. But that might have just changed: "It's About Time" is a friggin' good song: hard, fast, and full of amazing bridges.

Keep an eye out for the band's sophomore album Mind Over Matter, available January 21st (pre-order here).
