From the dreamy, indie pop storytelling project that brought you "Heavy Love" comes a new, easygoing single. In preparation for his debut release, Far Shore EP, Yoke Lore's Adrian Galvin graces us with "Hold Me Down."
The track drifts in like a gentle, sun-soaked morning. Not insistent, but unable to be ignored, infusing the air with halcyon sonic sunbeams. The melodic simplicity highlights Galvin's unmistakeable voice and focus the listener's attention on the song's lyrics.
"I'm close to learning where I go wrong, so hold me down" he sings in a way which suggests the recognition and acceptance of flaws. The track's instrumentation communicates a hopeful feeling, urging us that our mistakes are not something to be ashamed of, but rather a learning experience to grow from; that with the support and understanding of others we can continue to improve ourselves in a positive way.
The raw, thin percussion and vocal harmonies are similar to those of Local Natives, with subtle low-pitched, buzzy synths underneath. Far Shore is due out on May 6th. Preorder it here.
