Why do we like this?

Since the release of their debut EP, Far Shores, last year, Yoke Lore has been praised for skilfully blending the thumping drums and plucky banjos of folk with sounds of indie, electro-pop akin to the "bright, neo-psychedelic" sound of Animal Collective. However, in "Goodpain," the third track released from Yoke Lore's upcoming sophomore EP of the same name, the banjo has been swapped for a heavier, driving drum beat and synth backtracks.

In a conversation with The 405, Yoke Lore's Adrian Galvin gave the following description of the track: "It’s necessary to go through periods of pain or difficulty in order to find growth and betterment. This song is about striving for a bigger perspective on life in order not to feel bound by your circumstances. But it’s more than just 'look on the bright side'. Things move in cycles; they're necessarily constantly shifting. If there is no change, there is no growth—however, this can sometimes be downright painful. It's important to find balance between knowing who you are while keeping in mind that there’s always growing and learning to do."

The folk influences and banjo are still present in other tracks on the Goodpain EP, but we're loving the change in instrumentation on "Goodpain" too. The Goodpain EP will be out on June 16th, just in time for summer, and can be preordered here.
