Nottingham, UK, based singer Yazmin Lacey has just released her latest easy-listening, soul-drenched single “Morning Sunshine” as part of her brand new five-track album, Morning Matters. The new album follows on from her 2018 EPWhen The Sun Dips 90 Degrees and boasts the same jazz-influenced laidback approach as its predecessor.
In a statement, Lacey says that the album:
“...is dedicated to anyone that’s ever struggled with getting up and out in the morning, for everyone doing work on themselves and trying to live better.”
With Autumn rearing its windy head here in Cape Town, the days are getting ever shorter as the evenings grow cooler, so this single really couldn’t have come at a better time. It’s sunshine-laden and warm, the neo-soul/jazz fusion providing the perfect accompaniment to Lacey’s breathy calm voice. Her honest and direct self-expression is done so gracefully, so rhythmically, that listening to “Morning Sunshine” makes you feel like maybe everything will actually be alright after all. Hey, at least you’re trying, and according to Lacey, that counts for something solid.
Keep going, and listen to Yazmin Lacey while you do.
Morning Matterswas released 27 March 2020, and self-produced by the paragon of feminine excellence herself.
