Everyone has their guilty pleasure, and honestly mine is jersey club remixes. The only thing is I don't feel guilty about it at all. In fact, I've been on the club kick for the past three or four years and I haven't grown tired of it one bit. Shit… Nina Las Vegas was probably my favorite set at Coachella this year.
About two years ago, a few mysterious club artists cropped up, and people like me spent too much time scratching their head trying to figure out who they really are. Just for the sake of example, there was DJ Yolo Bear, Trippy Turtle, Drippy Dolphin, Y2Koala, Tina Turnup, and even the Orlando boys Vices took the mysterious route for their first release.
This flip of the hit Three 6 Mafia tune "Stay Fly" is from a favorite of mine Y2Koala, and even over two years later, it's just as damn good as it was then. Sadly, though, this is the only release they ever dropped, but hopefully they'll make a comeback sometime this year. Maybe I'm the only one hopeful, but I feel like club tunes like this have the appeal to be the next big thing on main stage festival slots.
