Why do we like this?
I love when a song changes tact midway through, and Wyldest's latest single "Dark Matter" is the perfect example.
Taken from their debut EP of the same name and produced by Guy Massey (Palma Violets, The Libertines, Idlewild), "Dark Matter" begins life as a dreamy slice of indie-pop, highlighted by the ethereal female harmonies and pleasant guitar work.
It's just over three minutes in when "Dark Matter" transforms from dream-pop to 70s shoegaze. The hypnotic instrumental drives the track towards its layered ending, with the swirling vocals reentering the mix as things come to a satisfying close.
Dark Matter is due for release early 2016.
