When people rave about a brand new "female-fronted" act, it does bring about a mild prejudice. In my head an image of a samey-samey brunette with a broody look and a guitar somewhere in the mix comes about and equates to nothing more than a blog phase. Alas, I was pleasantly surprised with the onset of "Cruel Dusk" by London female-lead trio Wyldest.
With captivating vocals similar to Poliça (without the FX) and with the same credible alternative appeal as MS MR, this track has magical indie production mixed in with solid alternative dream pop melodies. Poetic lyrics finish off the track offering something to those who prefer to concentrate on lyrical content just as much as the musical journey alike.
They worked in the studio with established producer Guy Fixsen (Pixies) on this debut single. It's the perfect time to get Wyldest into your head -- this will sound just as great on a commute into work or school as it would do driving through the deserts on an American road trip.
