Why do we like this?
There's only so much you can do with folk music. In my opinion, as long as you're doing it well, it doesn't matter if you're following a similar formula as other well-known acts. This rings true for 22-year-old Melbourne singer/songwriter Woody Pitney, who has a sound you'll be familiar with but it will leave you with a smile on your face nonetheless.
Current single "You Can Stay" has already been well received, and after one listen you'll understand why. An upbeat folk jaunt, fans of Mumford & Sons (et. al) will love the simple yet effective arrangement, with the structure building toward the rolling, sing/hum/whistle-along choruses. Pitney's got a killer voice too, both powerful and delicate in parts.
Expect to hear a lot more from this talented young performer in the near future, he's got success written all over him.
