Why do we like this?
Will Joseph Cook has been making enviable progress on the music scene over the past year. With support slots for the likes of Tom Odell and The Rolling Stones, the young singer/songwriter has been steadily winning fans with his deeply emotive and bluesy folk sound, which recalls that of Ben Howard and James Vincent McMorrow.
"Catalyst" is Cook's latest single, and displays a confidence of songwriting rarely seen in so young an artist. It's a track that paces itself masterfully, beginning with little more than hushed plucks of the guitar to accompany his gravelly voice before slowly developing to a heart-wrenching climax of drums and layered vocal calls.
This is the first taster of an artist with an already keenly developed and bold sound. The future looks extremely bright for Will Joseph Cook.
