Sounds like:
The Ramones,
Phoenix
Why do we like this?
"It doesn't matter if she's analog or digital." The hook rings out like an anthem for a new generation, and carries the same weight as Joan Jett's "Bad Reputation," The Ramones' "I wanna Be Sedated," or The Clash singing "Should I Stay or Should I Go." Like every great rock and roll song, less is more. A simple pairing of words is able to speak volumes, and Wildlife Control has epitomized the new Gen X with "Analog or Digital."
Wildlife Control are brothers, Neil and Sumul Shah. Neil lives in Brooklyn, Sumul in San Francisco, but they use the space between them as a tool, covering a greater distance, and maybe picking up more from the collective consciousness as they bounce ideas in analog, digital, or vice versa. Analog or digital, it really doesn't matter, does it? We can use it all now -- we are wired in at all times. There's no stopping the rate or style in which we share ideas, and this seems to be an increasingly effective way many artists are getting the job done. Tegan & Sara are another sibling act collaborating states away, and there are many many others, as if distance makes the sound grow stronger.
Wildlife Control are writing classics. "Analog or Digital" is vaguely Ramones, vaguely Phoenix, wholly a triumph in rock that might be considered indie, and entirely awesome. It's a must listen. Wildlife Control's self-titled LP is due out in early March. Check out their video for "Analog or Digital", which less a video than "a new kind of interactive music video that uses the latest web standards to blur the lines between music, technology, and community." One is able to add a comment to the video and it will appear immediately. It's a digital revolution ^_^
