Who says you can only dance on the weekend? Not me! And definitely not Wild Heron.
As if future bass wasn't a broad enough category, I'd like to throw "Magnum" in there. The track's got that addictive future garage drive, laced with R&B vocals, with an added bonus of melodic, pop n' lock synth.
A lot of producers borrow from the past while embracing the future of electronic dance, but WH creates a signature blend; there's a heavy wave of inexplicable nostalgia -- the warm emotion that transcends reality and makes you want to throw a roller skate disco dance party. Unsurprisingly then, a visit to Wild Heron's Facebook page shows his own description as "hipster house."
"Magnum" debuts via Bad Panda and shows us that Wild Heron, aka Joe Thompson out of Sheffield, UK, is clearly going to be one to watch. You can find Thompson on SoundCloud and catch this track and "Genevieve" for free download here.
