Austin's Wild Child is on a steady rise to indie folk stardom. They released their album, Pillow Talk, last fall and have gained a hefty following ever since. They even grabbed the number one spot on Hypem's website on the day of their release, knocking mainstream all-stars on their ass. Fair enough!
So here we have Wild Child's first official video for their single, "Pillow Talk." It's a sweet ballad of the reality of love and loss and the unavoidable adventure when you lay your vulnerability out on the table. The entire video encompasses a unique and ephemeral dream-like fairy tale, like nothing I've seen before. It's sweetly innocent, inevitably heavy-hearted and somewhat childlike in its approach to theatrics. And isn't that how love is felt by many, if not most, people?
The video features a seemingly endless blanket tunnel and pillows filled with dynamite! All that's missing is Tinkerbell playing a triangle. When it comes down to it, the line between smitten, unconditional love and fleeting feelings is thin and wobbly. Wild Child portrays the heart-wrenching reality of a once flowing romance turned sour and the ensuing slap of heartbreak that follows. Within this song and video is an understanding of the complexities of life and love and the fact that sometimes... you'd rather sleep to dream than to ever have to wake up.

How have I never heard this song before? Ahhhh!Daughter's "Run" was released last year as the B-side to "Smother," a song we were all over at the time (pun intended). It retains all of the thoroughly depressing elements of a Daughter single, but mana...
