Why do we like this?
Is it too late to start calling Widowspeak a buzz band of 2012? Because they're batting 2/2 based on songs I've heard so far (the first was "Ballad Of The Golden Hour").
Fronted by Molly Hamilton and Robert Earl Thomas, the duo's style definitely isn't the most elaborate out there. But, you could easily consider them part of the "guitar-driven-indie-rock" resurgence we've seen this year, and the present harmony is totally winning me over (a la Wye Oak).
"The Dark Age" will be released on their second album Almanac, due on January 22nd via Captured Tracks. Based on the two songs we've heard, we're definitely keen to get a listen of the full album.
