Oh man. Mr. Sam Smith is, simply put, one of the greatest male vocalists of our era. In addition to his vocal range, this English singer-songwriter is a class act, one that doesn't come around all that often.
I recently saw Sam Smith at a sold-out show at The Fox Theater in Oakland, CA, which was a performance that will not be forgotten. Having seen him a few months back at an intimate show in San Francisco of about 150 people, it was nice to see him on a much bigger stage, and watch how he has matured as an artist. With much more confidence, smooth banter, and interaction with the audience, as well as flawless execution of his songs, Sam Smith is only beginning to reach the top of his fruitful career.
A few highlights of the evening included this cover of Whitney Houston's "How Will I Know," and a mashup of his "Money On My Mind" and CeCe Peniston's "Finally." Here's a link to the mashup if you're curious how that went down.
P.S. While you might only know Sam Smith for the song he did with Disclosure called "Latch," see him live and I promise that song will only be the tip of the iceberg.
