Country is not the genre for everyone, I know, I know. But alt-country may be the stepping stone that eases you into the rustic category.
From the sweet piano notes to the airy vocals, everything about “High on a Rock Ledge” feels light. Like a cool dip in the pool, the song is refreshing.
The outdoorsy theme makes me want to climb a tall mountain, although I can barely hike the beginner trails in my own backyard. The mood combines John Denver with today's indie pop. Both Denver and Whitney want to be high up somewhere in a rocky place. And similar to Denver, although their sound isn't very hearty or heavy, Whitney never loses passion and energy.
“High on a Rocky Ledge” is from their latest album,Candid. It follows their album,Forever Turned Around, which only came out last year.
