Why do we like this?

Shines paints with a thin brush on this haunting dance rework of "False Widow," a track released earlier this year by English ambient pop band White Royal. All of the existing elements—guitar strums, piano backdrops, percussions—have been chopped up, moved around, and mixed with Shines’ signature sound movement to build towards the song’s several moments of catharsis.

Warning: Shines doesn’t hold your hand on this one. Trust your ears, and when it feels right, you’ll know.

Following six months of radio silence between our lastShines listen, we are happy to announce an upcoming EP from the elusive sound-maker. Brooklyn / L.A.-based label Color Stationis set to drop Shines’ debut self-titled EP on August 5, and we can't wait.
