What's that I hear? Is that auto-tune? In a newly surfaced White Denim single? Why... why yes! It is! And it's splendid! White Denim has already acquired critical acclaim with the release of their album D, earlier this year. Now they've just released this bonus track, "Hot Thought" -- a calm, cool, and collected song that you'll probably want to unabashedly gyrate to (I know I did).
At first listen, I was pleasantly surprised. I heard some contemporary easy listening, I heard some R&B, I heard some funky tribal drums, some classic electric guitar, and a soulful organ. This stuff's sophisticated! This is the type of song you listen to when you're wanting to feel breezy. And lead singer James Petralli pulls off auto-tune quite tastefully, harmonies and all.
Don't sleep on this groovy track. It's basically got everything you'd want to hear from a modern southern Texas indie rock jam band and more! Talk about a hodge podge!
