Lo-fi beats and synth are definitely Westerman’s friends on this chill track. The artist combines the pop style of Troye Sivan with the layered sounds and experimental touch of Bon Iver.
I love how in this song, similar to the other tracks on his new album,Your Hero Is Not Dead, he keeps the beats low and doesn’t feel the need to speed anything up. It’s almost like he found his sweet spot and decided not to stray too far away from it.
“Paper Dogs” has a nice rhythm that's easy to sink deeper and deeper into. I’m excited to see how this London-based artist will experiment in the future with his talent.
With a steady stream of songs this neat and laid back, there’s loads of potential for him to gain even more new listeners. Plus, Westerman has been releasing new songs like crazy recently so it's evident that he's got plenty more ideas bouncing around in his mind!
