If there's one thing I've learned in my short time on this planet, it's that those who society labels as "weird" are always the most creative and full of life. Always.
Think it's weird that there's always that same guy posted up for hours at your favorite coffee shop carefully guiding a pencil with his eyes inches away from a sketch pad? Guess what, he's designing a groundbreaking video game character you'll control from your couch next year. That shy girl who wore oversized t-shirts and never spoke in class? She can play a grand piano so gracefully it'll make you cry. The examples go on forever.
Cue Josh Christopher's project WEIRDO + CO (now featuring Pierre Leck and René Corbett), here to help us all trust and follow our inner weirdness. Their latest single "Count Me Out" does just that, using three and a half minutes of beautifully skewed pop to show us how to turn the voices of self-doubt in our heads into art that colors the world. For Christopher, "2017 is about being a fucking weirdo and embracing it," and I couldn't agree more.
