If you are of a certain age, then Weezer's Blue Album holds a special place in your heart. It came out when I was in 7thgrade, and I was straight obsessed. I listened to that CD cover to cover hundreds of times, I knew every lyric in the album, and I even had a Weezer t-shirt that I would wear for days on end before my mom would make me peel it off so she could wash it.
Apparently I wasn't the only one affected by the album. Neo-emo rockers You Blew It! are set to release an EP homageto the Blue Album, cleverly entitled You Blue It --due out on August 12. Consisting of five sacred tracks, this EP is set to make a large number of Weezer and You Blew It! fans incredibly happy.
The band just recently released the first track off the EP on Top Shelf Records SoundCloudand it's their take on "In The Garage." The guys of You Blew It! stay true to the original with that killer guitar solo at the end, but all with a bit of a laid back vibe. And don't worry, there's still some harmonica.
This is definitely something that Rivers Cuomo would approve of after inspiring countless numbers of bands to get started in the garage.
