Vancity rockers We Are The City have a way of writing songs that blend indie pop sensibility with heavy subject matter to communicate moments of true emotional weight.
"Friend's Hurt" is a perfect example, with bright vibes with a punchy drop in the chorus that carries truth, even when words fail. Given the subject matter on all of our Facebook feeds in recent days, I think the simple message of this track, the second single off of WATC's sophomore album Violent, is particularly fitting: "It hurts when friends are hurting."
