It has been a good minute since I've last shared a track over here, but this one needed to be spread as far as possible.
Since moving to Berlin in 2015, I have had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know Nigerian-born, Paris-raised, and now) Berlin-based artist Wayne Snow.
After collaborations with French Kiwi Juice, Darius and Crayon (Nightbirds), the enticing soul extraordinaire has officially joined the Roche Musique label family and shares a new single "Seventy."
Channeling the sun-kissed, soulful influence of his time spent growing up in Nigeria, "Seventy" takes Snow's vocals and allows it to float, ebb, and flow over waves of otherworldy production by Crayon.
'Seventy' is song about perseverance, about overcoming life's obstacles without letting go. I imagined a seventy day countdown to motivate myself to bounce back after a tough year when I felt everything was slipping out of my hands."
Featuring avant-garde styling, digital body scanning, CGI, and contemporary dance choreography, the striking accompanying visual pays homage to Afrofuturism, the vibrant stunning landscapes of the South African desert, and Snow's relationship to both. Starring a lone figurine – Snow himself – the visual was taped at the beautiful Tankwa Karoo National Park near Cape Town, South Africa.
