New Zealand has been a strong breeding ground for neo-soul artists over the years, with names like Kimbra, Electric Wire Hustle, and Fat Freddy's Drop all gaining international acclaim. With all that rich history filling her veins, (now) Sydney-based Kiwi Wallace might just be the next in line to find success.
Her first offering has recently found the light of day. "Vinyl Skip" is a great example of the singer/songwriter's substantial talent. Vocally, it's a knockout; Wallace's rich, sultry tones draw the listener in with aplomb. The instrumentation also is well suited -- a simple backing of smooth percussion and guitar proves to be the perfect backdrop for her voice.
Wallace is currently working on her debut EP, to be released later this year.
