How Melbourne producer Wabz has managed to stay relatively unknown until now is beyond me. Having produced a number of standalone tracks as well as his debut EP 4.1, he's only just beginning to scratch the surface of what looks to be a promising career. After spending the last few years travelling around Australia, he has developed a unique, varied sound which reflects the nomadic lifestyle he's adopted.
Currently putting the finishing touches on an album, we're premiering a new single for you today. "Sweetwater Creek" is one of the more electronically driven tracks on the record -- smooth and stripped-back, its strength sits in its arrangement. Fans of UK garage will be carried away in its vocal sampling, flickering beats, and most notably, its stone-cold groove.
Wabz has managed to single himself out as one to watch in a very crowded Melbourne electronic scene. Expect to hear a lot more from this unique talent in the coming months, with his debut record Argyle due out shortly through Solitaire Records.
