"Surely this can't be a new tune," I ask myself as I listen to "Ivan". Surely something of this caliber can't be brand new, undiscovered, yet so well produced and perfectly formed from start to finish. But in reality, it seems we've found a gem here.
David Von Sell is a Brooklyn-born, European-refined electro act of the finest ilk. Studying in Hamburg Von Sell has clearly picked up on the rich electronica that is at work on the continent, combining this with the ebullient indie disco vibes of the East Coast.
During some moments, I hear vocals similar to Ed Droste of Grizzly Bear, and at others I hear the plinky, tropical indie of Dan Croll; it's intriguing and captivating. Insightful and layered, ethereal and magical, I really believe that 2015 needs to hurry up and recognize this artist's activity.
