Atlanta sisters VON GREY say they draw influence from "mysticism and the complexities of the human experience," and after listening to their new tune, "Poison In The Water," it's hard to disagree.
Sounding like a darker, Lana Del Rey-influenced HAIM, VON GREY's latest is spellbinding. "Poison In The Water" builds slowly, the throbbing synth melody melding with the dynamic guitar riff as the violin provides another element of intrigue. There's a creeping dread as the song hits its peak when the sister's glorious harmonies take centre stage, the repeated refrain, "There is a judas among us," unsettlingly beautiful.
Talking with blahblahblahscience, the band had this to say about "Poison In The Water."
“(it’s) is a song that’s simultaneously introverted and focused on external observations/disillusions. We’re living in a time ripe with suspicion and suspense, yet lacking in privacy. And somehow, through it all, so many are able to live in a bubble of complacency.”
Hopefully an EP or long player from VON GREY is in the works, but until then, you can check out their music here.
