Why do we like this?
Indietronica artist VOKES returns with the wavering lightness of "Backroad," his latest track featuring L.A. vocalist Nevve. On this one, he's heavier on electronic production, with vocals that lilt and intertwine atop watery guitar plucks and shimmering synths.
The sonic textures of the track were inspired by the way sound echoes through canyon landscapes, mimicked through the use of reverb and swelling instruments. The melody that rides atop is sweet yet subversive, coaxing you into the ease of the beat.
This is the fourth and final single VOKES will release leading up to his debut EP Fractalism. Look out for that in the near future, and check out "Slow Down" and this awesome remix of "Value" in the meantime.
