The song "Wake Into" from Melbourne guitarist, Vincent "Vinnyrn" Nguyen, perfectly pairs with those blurred late night/early morning hours that I often find myself swimming through as insomnia and alcohol battle it out for my consciousness. In fact, the song's miasmal yet gorgeous arrangement, as well as its shoegaze vocals, turned it into something of an instant obsession for yours truly. Though the singer-songwriter explains that the initial push behind the song was a desire to, "..stay asleep and avoid the mundane day to day," the end result is much more poignant and inwardly looking than he lets on.
