Why do we like this?
"Silhouettes" is the exciting first taste of Canadian four-piece Viet Cong's promising self-titled debut album.
Made up of ex-Woman members Matt Flegel (vocalist/bassist) and Mike Wallace (drummer), as well as guitarists Scott Munro (guitar/synth) and Daniel Christiansen (guitar), Viet Cong is a torrent of driving melodies, dynamic synths, and post-punk influences.
In an interview with Fader, Flegel detailed how "Silhouettes" was written after he was electrocuted at a show. The track deals with themes of "disconnection, intoxication, lapse of memory, regret, and the ability to laugh something off."
Viet Cong will be released January 20.
