Why do we like this?
Apart from possessing the most amusing press bio ever created, Brisbane's Velociraptor have been producing incredibly catchy music since forming in 2009. Originally a trio of vocalist Jeremy Neale and members of Brisbane duo DZ Deathrays (Simon Ridley and Shane Parsons), the group has grown to "a revolving cast of 12 Ultimate Party Dogs" who released a self-titled EP in 2010 and set off on a number of national tours.
They're back, and this time they're armed with a "mini-LP" of eight tracks entitled The World Warriors, due out in early September. The first single off the album is the aptly named "Riot," and showcases the raw energy this band is known for. Screeching vocals, heavy guitar riffs and simple, sharp percussion give this band a real rock sound, reminiscent of Brit-pop legends the Fratellis.
Velociraptor are a great rock band who don't take themselves too seriously, making their music even more enjoyable. Keep partying, Party Dogs.
