Who doesn't love a mystery producer, right? Vapid has suddenly appeared on Soundcloud this week, with no information or socials to speak of. In five days they've unleashed two tracks - this one, "Weightless" and a new one, "Flylo FM." No guesses for who that choppy, experimental number's inspired by!
This is a spritely, playful headphone tune. Admittedly I'm not usually a fan of bubblegum electronica with helium-high synths and Mario-inspired effects, but "Weightless" works, with its lovely padded bass and soft, melodic waves carrying through. The track flows smoothly, spotlighting bells, dulcet percussion and padded synths throughout, all in all evoking a warm, sunny atmosphere.
There's A LOT of music that exists like this. So when you find a track that makes it worse, it is an absolute pleasure to hear.
