Why do we like this?

This song always resonated well with me -- the original that is -- as I am in fact, in some ways, an "American Boy." No, it's not just because I've enjoyed a good throw of the 'ol  pigskin, but because I was born in New Jersey.

At any opportunity, during the latter half of my life, while living overseas, I would revert to the original of this cover. House parties were much better for it and it was great calling card which earned me lots of cool new friends.

Friends I've lost contact with, until now! Luckily, at these cool parties I managed to collect email addresses and will be promptly forwarding this new version to them.
