Val Son Town

A slow burner, Val Son takes it slow into "Town."

Minneapolis musician Mike Gunvalson was most recently the touring drummer for On An On. But following two successful albums, Gunvalson took advantage of the band's indefinite hiatus to take the lead on his own work. He's found his own voice in the shoegaze and lazy guitars that make up this new vehicle, Val Son, taking him in a new and more personal direction.

I like that he's not rushing into anything, and that he's both taking inspiration from others and listening to his own intuition. There's a part of me that can hear him in a basement studio, finding his way the final product. If you like it, check out his debut EP, Miracles.
