Why do we like this?
Lots of good things coming out of Sweden these days, especially from Stockholm, and Urban Cone are no exception here. I would like to mention Blalock's December IRP (for those of you who follow the site) for bringing this one to my attention as it is an absolute peach of song.
Although technically classified as an electro pop group, Urban Cone manage to display a much more delicate side to their music with "Black Ocean," which was released on their Our Youth album in October. They're typically an energetic group, specializing in synth-driven anthems, but on this occasion they have taken a much more minimalist approach.
I've always said that bands show their true class when they can write and perform a successful mellow ballad, and that is exactly what Urban Cone have done here.
