Why do we like this?
It's been almost two decades since The Pharcyde rode into the popular consciousness of hip hop with their playfully self-aware stylings and feel-good music. Their influence is present on many still. Though no longer functioning as a unit, the individual members of the group can still be found, active and vibrant.
Imani, one of the more playful of the four, is now Uncle Imani. In preparation of a new solo album, he has leaked this cut, a surprise collaboration with Detroit's Ta'Raach. The song has a low end that would make Q-Tip jealous and Imani delivers a jovial but seasoned take on the song's subject which is also it's title. Anything by Ta'Raach warrants investigations and it is a true joy for a Labcabin nut like myself to hear an energized Imani, even if Booty Brown, Fatlip and Slimkid Tre are nowhere to be found.
