Why do we like this?
Typoon have crafted a fantastic and intriguing movement of four tracks to tease listeners who are anticipating their full-length album, Offerings, due for release in January.
The primary single from the first four songs released is “Rorschach,” a thoughtful, melodic exercise in dynamic contrast. The guitars, drums, keys, strings and electronic additions provide a complexity reminiscent of stuff Zach Condon puts together, with a harder edge, using more traditional instruments.
Kyle Morton writes beautiful songs every bit as well as his contemporaries who are accustomed to more of the spotlight. But, too much attention often changes the music and I’d prefer if Typhoon stays just as they are for a while–they’re a perfect fit.
