They just keep getting better. And better. And darker, more cinematic, more full and deep. Kyle Morton's musical and lyrical prose is evolving at a faster and faster rate, creating multiple masterpiece's with each song.
One month before they release their next album, Typhoon continues to tease us with another single. "Darker" follows "Rorschach" off of Offerings, coming January 12, 2018.
"I tried, you know, just to tow the line: love all the neighbors, live in the light. Sure I stumbled sometimes," Morton croons as the drums shuffle and the strings being to stretch and ache. Bells chime, the guitar tip toes through its riff.
"Self-contained (a convenient lie). Every source of pain, every sting of pride had to come from the outside," Morton marches along. The violin floats down the scale.
"But you. You won't even fight me fair. Wait for the darkness catch me unaware. You pull me close. Then you twist the knife," he whispers.
The guitar becomes hushed, waiting to break free. The storm builds, and Morton admits, "I don't wanna live with the kinds of trouble I keep finding myself in."
Release; the rain pours.
