Ty Segall's been stomping about San Francisco playing straightforward garage rock in the vein of local favorites Thee Oh Sees and Sic Alps for a hot minute now, so the retro lo-fi sound on his latest shouldn't be a shocker. On Melted, Ty delivers 30 minutes of short, snappy fuzzed out songs perfect for a bedroom rock-out sesh. Some tracks are quirky pop tunes, while others get lost in reverb and effects and lack structure. Somehow, Ty makes it all work out on this release
from Goner. Before he started playing with his current band, Ty was known for his energetic one man band performances. He'll be doing a solo throwback performance in San Francisco on Thursday July 15th at Milk Bar. Weekend is headlining the $5 show on Haight; check out epicsauce.com for more details.
