NYC's two chapels are a female/male duo that are NYU-trained composers/producers. That alone was enough to pique my interest as to what they've created musically. Then I took a listen to their single, "Free You," a synth and drum machine-drenched track
The overall feel of this song is haunting and chilled out, but I think the underlying message is a bit more daunting. As the track goes on, it keeps a steady, slithering beat while the warps synths swirl around the track, never letting up. The composition may sound simple, but if you listen more closely, there are layers of effects that come and go throughout the song.
two chapels have got a good grasp on the massive synthwave movement that's taking over the music scene. And with their formal NYU training, I'm interested to see what else they have up their sleeves.
