Why do we like this?
When Twin Tigers returned to the studio after a few years of solid touring behind their 2010 album Grey Waves, the result was their recently released LP Death Wish. This new album is a little bit of a departure from their established sound; gone are the huge guitar swells and driving rhythms, and instead we are greeted with a lot of atmospheric and odd washes of noise that are the backdrop for scaled-back, minimalist tracks.
There are a few detours early on in the record, where we hear a little bit of the pop side to Twin Tigers. But as soon as the song ends, we are taken out of the sunlight and again dropped into a dismal landscape. They still make this a very listenable record, even though it does kinda make you feel a little uneasy.
Check out the rest of the album if you dig this new sound from the Athens, Georgia four-piece.
