After a year of being in hiatus, Twenty One Pilots have returned with "Trench," their fifth studio album that will be released in October this year. While we wait for the album the duo have released four new singles, and honestly, I'm excited.
The fourth, and latest single, "My Blood," is arguably the best one. The song gives us that familiar Twenty One Pilots formula while also giving us a new sound. Synthpop, electronic, funk, and even disco elements can be found sprinkled across the track -- which is not surprising since the band is known to take inspiration from many genres of music. However, in this song Tyler and Joseph sound more mature, like they finally know who they are as a band. The catchy chorus and addicting bass line groove gives the song its strong impression.
The song is not only uplifting in terms of the beat, but its lyrics are also very positive with the chorus talking about helping a friend overcome abandonment and loneliness, a topic that has been in many Twenty One Pilot songs. Overall, the song is a must listen and I can't wait for the full album to drop.
