Why do we like this?
When the vocals kick in on "Benny and the Jetts," it's a little off-putting. But stick with the song, and listen to the entire album (which you can download for free on their Facebook page) and you'll begin to warm up to the fuzzy vintage rock of TV Girl.
Trung Ngo and Brad Petering are from sunny San Diego - Ngo handles vocals, and Petering arranges the beats (taken from samples of everything from Dylan to Tracy Chapman to as Petering puts it, "some obscure 60's garage rock song" downloaded haphazardly off the Internet). Pretty interesting combination, if you ask me.
Their sound is quintessential lo-fi pop with a backbone of old school R&B. It takes a few listens, but see if you can get into it.
