Tunng The Village

A little over a month back, we picked up on Tunng's first single "So Far From Here," off their upcoming album Turbines. The song was a multi-layered folktronica exploration that had a bit of a stunted rhythm. In a way I'd have to say that it was a little hard to approach -- unless of course, you were already a fan of Tunng (as I am).

Fortunately -- now that we're about a month away from the album's release (June 17th) -- the band have gone ahead and unveiled a second single, this one titled "The Village."

The track starts off with 10 seconds of "woah, what's that noise?," quickly transitioning to a bit of a clangy, Western-feel. With it, Tunng have once again displayed an atypical approach to rhythm and melody, establishing some type of crossroad between folk-rock, experimental psychedelia and indietronica.

While the end finishes on a bit of a repetitive / jarring note, I'd have to say that this track leaves me keen to hear what more they have in store. If you find yourself in the same boat, you can pre-order Turbines here.
