Troye Sivan. I'm sure you know the name by now. You know, the Perth-based musician/actor who found fame through his YouTube vlogs and international chart-topping single "Happy Little Pill," which currently sits at 4.4 million SoundCloud plays and more than 5.8 million YouTube views.
Wow.
Now, New York producer Flaxo has unleashed his own remix of "Happy Little Pill." It's haunting, it's seductive, and it's got a smooth, smooth groove.
It's only slightly faster than the original, but it's gone down a completely new road. Adding in synth-heavy loops, chords, drops, and screeches, the melancholy pop track has taken on something of a chemically induced turn. It's a little dreamier now, as though it's more detached (probably because it is). There's a lot more going on behind the melody, and I found myself focusing less on the lyrics and more on the track as a whole.
That being said, Flaxo hasn't strayed so far from the surprisingly emotional original, which, to be honest, was a lot better than I expected it to be from a track so relentlessly popular (TRXYE, the EP it was featured on, topped iTunes charts in 50 countries).
Bubbly chimes trickle their way throughout the track, with string samples, shimmery sound effects and an overall spacey soundtrack adding extra color to the newly bangin' remix.
