One of the acts that I'm most excited to see at San Francisco's Treasure Island 2010 this weekend is Deadmau5. Known to his Canadian family as Joel Thomas Zimmerman, Deadmau5 has an extensive solo and collaborative background. He was even nominated for a Grammy in 2009 for his remix of Morgan Page's "The Longest Road." Perhaps most notable, however, is that he performs wearing a giant Mickey Mouse-esque mask.
Deadmau5 will be performing as the second-to-last act on Saturday before LCD Soundsystem takes the stage. To get you pumped up, we've included two tracks. The first is an original: "A City in Florida." The second is a mash-up of Deadmau5 and Far East Movement. I like the tempo of this track, but I can't help but wonder if Deadmau5 feels differently ("I don't really see the technical merit in playing two songs at the same speed together and it bores me to fucking tears and hopefully, with all due respect to the DJ type that will fucking go the way of the dinosaur, I'd like them to dis-a-fucking-pear!").
See you on Treasure Island!
